Your Love Story
How did you meet, was it love at first sight? Tell us about the proposal!
We are that tinder couple! Eight years later here we are with the most beautiful little boy Elliot and a wedding day that was so perfect! The proposal happened in Lisbon – view over the city at night after the most amazing meal. Was in total shock, I did not see it coming! We had booked the holiday as a surprise, we didn’t even know where we were going until we got to the airport so a proposal was most definitely not something I thought was on the cards! We both celebrated with Sangria (Our fav drink!) we couldn’t wait to tell everyone so we called as many people that would answer at 11.30pm at night!
Your Wedding Day Vision & Inspiration
What was your inspiration and vision for your day?
We just wanted a big party! We wanted a venue that would allow us to stand away from the traditional wedding day tasks and allow me and Mike to enjoy it our way, which we did! The River Mill allowed us to have the relaxed vibe. All the staff were amazing, and I don’t even have the words to express how amazing Laura was, our wedding co-ordinator. She was just fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble; when things went a little wrong, she was on hand to sort it out! Honestly, she was amazing! Everything we said and wanted went ahead on the day and allowed both me and Mike to have the best wedding day!
Why did you choose The River Mill Venue?
The whole venue and vibe were both exactly what me and Mike wanted! The riverside was amazing through the day, to be able to sit back and enjoy drinks with friends & family! We loved that the River Mill was one small room that allowed us to be able to have all our friends and family in one room, it allowed us to have an intimate wedding with people we love. The industrial vibe was just amazing and turned out brilliant on the photos! Everyone mentioned how amazing the venue was and looked! We loved that it was such an open space, and you could really do whatever you wanted!

All flowers done by myself.

What was on your food & drinks menu?
BBQ Grazing board with lots of wine and cake for dessert! Nachos for the evening treat! The food was fabulous too!

Intimate, perfect & joyous!
What are your favourite memories or highlights of your day?
The weather was in our favour and allowed us to really enjoy being on the Riverside, with the amazing Ice cream on the cobble’s afterwards! We also had the amazing Georgie Clark sing for us during the ceremony and after on the cobbles – this made such amazing memories! The dressing room before the ceremony with the bridesmaids was amazing – we also hired the Mill cottage for the night before which again was beautiful! It also allowed me to see Laura before the ceremony which helped ease my nerves and fill me with confidence that everything was going ok! The dressing room also allowed Mike and I to have a moment after the wedding together away from the crowd, which was a lovely touch! The food – Wow, the food was just so amazing! Again we had so many comments on how lovely the food was! Laura our Events Manager, I can’t even put into words how wonderful she was and helped ensure the day was amazing, honestly, nothing was too much trouble, and she truly made the venue space that 10x better with the dedication she puts into making your wedding day perfect! Thank you so much! I already want to come back and looking for any way I can use the venue space again!
