With our unique riverside terrace underneath the festoons, our industrial décor and quirky props including our ‘Booze & Bubbles bath’, our ‘Drunk In Love’ neon sign and selfie station, as well as our ‘horsebox on the cobbles’ – perfect for a gin or street food station – our appeal is never ending.
But it’s not just weddings we do, whether you’re celebrating a milestone birthday, a special anniversary, a corporate event, a christening, even a vowel renewal, we ensure that you celebrate in a space with sophisticated style and set up like no place else.
Our Space
Set on the world heritage site of Darley Abbey Mills, The River Mill is rich in history which will make you want to explore every nook and cranny within our historic mill grounds. Having been lovingly restored to the highest of standards, whilst keeping all the charm and originality of the early 1800s iconic architecture. You’ll find vaulted ceilings, original exposed brickwork and striking cast iron beams which creates the most incredible exclusive-use events venue.
Our Heritage
The history of Darley Abbey Mills dates back to the late 18th century. The complex was originally established by Thomas Evans, who obtained a lease on land in the area in 1783. During the 19th century, Darley Abbey Mills underwent several expansions and changes in ownership. Now, The Mills are home to many wonderful businesses including our two venues!
Our Secret Spot
This tranquil space offers a little slice of country just a stone’s throw from the city. With calming sounds of the river, it’s the perfect secret hideaway for you and your guests. Whether you’re sipping G&Ts on a summer’s afternoon or treating your guests to a BBQ station, a tapas style sharing platter or grazing table, we create a riverside magic like no other.
