Your Love Story
How did you meet, was it love at first sight? Tell us about the proposal!
We met in school; we attended school together since we were 6 years old. When we left school, we didn’t really like each other much and annoyed each other then we didn’t see each other for a year then met again through mutual friends. Something just clicked and from the first day we met again in 2014 we were inseparable and have been ever since.
We have enjoyed travelling to many different places and raising a family with our son and daughter.
Josh proposed to Holly back in 2017 on a holiday to Florida. He had planned it for a while, we were at Magic Kingdom in Disney World, he was going to undo his shoe lace and conveniently go down on one knee to fasten it up and propose but Holly noticed the shoe lace was undone and so pulled him on it and couldn’t understand why Josh was being so mardy when she told him to do his shoelace up before he tripped so he had to think quick on his feet. We approached to Disney castle and Josh asked for his mum to take a picture of us he pointed and said what’s that all the at the top of the castle, so Holly looked to try to see what he was talking about and turned to ask and Josh was down on one knee. The rest is history. 11 Years later we are finally married.
Your Wedding Day Vision & Inspiration
What was your inspiration and vision for your day?
We wanted a chilled laidback wedding with beautiful scenery so we could sit outside also.
Why did you choose The River Mill Venue?
The venue is stunning, we love the industrial/rustic vibe it has, and the outside areas were beautiful and relaxing, it felt like you were in the middle of nowhere.
Did you do any DIY projects?
Yes we had a lot of DIY. The flower arch, centrepieces, flowers, cakes and stationery.
Tell us about the details – Flowers, Cake, Decor, Stationary….
The flowers were made from funeral flowers from holly’s grandad funeral 2 days prior, he died a couple weeks before the wedding and it was an incredibly hard time for everyone so offered a little comfort on the day as it felt like he was there with us.
Holly’s sister made both cakes, the normal wedding cake and the cheese tower cake.
Holly also made the centrepieces, flower arch and stationery with the help of her mum and nanna.
Alcohol. Because No Great Story Started With A Salad (…or did it?)
What was on your food & drinks menu?
We had a relaxed wedding breakfast with pizza, chips and garlic breads, it was incredibly tasty, and the Chorizo pizza was the biggest hit with everyone.
We had a cheese tower for the evening food and had crackers/chutneys/olives/ sandwiches/ homemade sausage rolls/ samosas etc which the guests are still talking about how lovely they were. The presentation was fantastic.
The Hangover Only Lasts A Day But The Memories Last A Lifetime
Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?
Breath-taking, Perfect, unforgettable.
What are your favourite memories or highlights of your day?
EVERYTHING!!! Charlotte really looked after us all. When the girls arrived at the venue she had gone above and beyond to recreate the vision we had, everything was perfect. She was calming which made everyone feel relaxed and available to help with anything. She hurt her hand just before the ceremony quite badly but still stayed until everything had unfolded smoothly, attended A+E and was back in time for the speeches! Everything ran perfectly, the bar and waiting staff were all incredibly polite and the catering manager was on the ball with everything, she was so prepared and organised. Guest commented on how polite and welcoming everyone was. The evening manager was also fantastic he kept coming in and checking in on us both to make sure we were happy and to see if he could do anything for us, he was great. The whole day was so perfect we couldn’t have wished for it to go any better than it, it was beyond what we both had imagined we truly had the most amazing, loving, perfect day. Thank you so much!
Do you have any advice for future Brides & Grooms?
Trust in your wedding planner, don’t stress over the little things because everything comes together better than you could imagine and the little things aren’t worth the stress. It’s the most magical day, take some time together to sit back and soak it all in because the day goes by so quickly. Enjoy every moment.
