Your Love Story

How did you meet, was it love at first sight? Tell us about the proposal!

Craig and I have worked at the same place for 13 years. We then fell in love whilst working in Italy 6 Years ago and have 2 beautiful children together.

Your Wedding Day Vision & Inspiration

What was your inspiration and vision for your day?

We loved the industrial charm of the River Mill and wanted to stick to this theme and enhance its rustic elegance.

Why did you choose The River Mill Venue?

As soon as I stepped through the doors when trying to short list some venues, I just knew this was the place where I wanted to get married. I knew that that was the aisle I would be walking down.

It also turned out that Craig had already been there for a previous work event and loved it. So that was settled, without any competition.

Did you do any DIY projects?

My bouquets, table flowers, table numbers, welcome sign, back drop, sweet station, tattoo station (this was a massive hit) were all done by me.

My name place cards were designed and each individually vinyl printed by my very talented friend (@frobo_em). She also made my guest book to match.

My card box was designed and made by my lovely Dad.

Tell us about the details – Flowers, Cake, Decor, Stationary….

I loved having the acoustic guitar outside for all of our talented friends to pick up and play (and some also sing). There was a lovely moment when my Brother in Law did a solo and me and my Dad had a dance by the waterside.

Alcohol. Because No Great Story Started With A Salad (…or did it?)

What was on your food & drinks menu?

Drinks: Prosecco and beers for reception drinks with crisps and nuts. Red and white wine for the meal and prosecco for the toast.

Menu:
Starters: Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Soup, served with Focaccia Crouton and Tomato Concasse, Rustic Bread and Butter

Main: Rolled Beef Rib, Pomme Puree, Carrot, Tenderstem Broccoli, Red Wine Jus, Served with Fresh Seasonal Vegetables

Vegitarian Option: Vegetable Pie, Pomme Puree, Tenderstem Broccoli, Carrot, Roast Gravy Served with Fresh Seasonal Vegetables

Desert: Ice cream from the Just Ice cart that was served outside

The Hangover Only Lasts A Day But The Memories Last A Lifetime

Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?

Our Dream Wedding

What are your favourite memories or highlights of your day?

My favourite part of the day was hearing the song that Craig had chosen as a surprise for me to walk down the aisle to, and then seeing him waiting for me, looking very handsome and smiling like a Cheshire cat.

My dress reveal to my Dad is something I will remember and cherish forever.

When we walked out for our confetti tunnel, our children, Sidney and Florence came to greet us. It was a beautiful, special moment to be surrounded by so much love.

Do you have any advice for future Brides & Grooms?

Get the groom to chose your aisle song as a surprise.

Make time for each other and take a minute to stop and take everything in on the day.

Don’t worry about the things that you can’t control. It will all be ok on the day, whatever happens.

Make some time the day before or after the wedding to explore the surrounding area. Lorentes has amazing tapas and is a very romantic setting, the lamp house is lovely for a cocktail or coffee, the park is beautiful and has cafes and amazing ice cream at Just Ice.
